  "I have been a governor for 21 years I started at the Primary School that my children attended. The idea for me was simply to find a way I could help out in a way to say thanks for all the were doing for my children.   "I always say that education and my faith are the bedrock of who I am today. As a foundation governor, I have the opportunity to contribute to the overall educational experience of students, and help shape the schools curriculum, policies and strategies ultimately making a positive impact on the children who study there. It also gives me the chance of ensuring that the schools ethos, values and mission that are based on our Catholic Faith are upheld and embedded in its day to day operations.   I decided to apply to become a governor as I wanted to help to make a positive contribution to the school and support it in it’s great work. I felt that I had something to offer to the governing body with my professional background in children’s nursing, safeguarding and SEND. I get great pleasure from being a governor and enjoy celebrating the school’s achievements with them and supporting the school to develop and progress. I particularly like visiting the school in my link role and speaking to the staff and listening to them. By being part of a governing body I work with a great team of people from different backgrounds and professions, who are all committed to the school and bring to the governing board valuable attributes. Everyone has always been very friendly and encouraging. I enjoy the many and varied courses and seminars that are available to me, which has helped me with my own continuing professional development and in my development and skill set within governance. To anyone considering becoming a governor I highly recommend it.
